The third Illinois Statewide K-12 CS Ed Summit was held over the course of one week from September 20 - 24. The summit included 12 panel talks and keynote presentations as well as a CS First coding event, in partnership with Google, open to all 4th - 8th grade classrooms in Illinois.

The 2020 Illinois Statewide K-12 CS Education Summit was held virtually via Zoom and Whova on September 25th, 2020 from 10 am to 3 pm. Welcoming talks from Discovery Partners Institute and College of Education leadership illustrated the continued importance and timeliness of the topic for Illinois. An opening keynote from Hadi Partovi, CEO and Founder of Code.org, set the stage for the day and provided background on CS education in Illinois and across the country. There were seven panels covering a wide variety of topics relating to K-12 computer science education, which ran concurrently in two sessions. There was also a working lunch for current CS teachers on computational action in the classroom, which was attended by nearly 40 teachers from around Illinois. The event was closed by the afternoon keynote speaker, Jessie “Chuy” Chavez, Software Engineer and manager at Google Chicago who spoke about CS efforts in the Chicago area and how access CS changed and impacted his own life.

The inaugural K-12 CS Ed summit was held at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois, Urbana - Champaign campus on September 20, 2019.
Sponsored by Microsoft, University of Illinois and Illinois State University and with the support of other partners, the First Illinois Statewide Computer Science Education Summit created real energy among its 200+ participants with standing room only sessions. Welcoming talks from State and University leaders illustrated the importance and timeliness of the topic for Illinois. A keynote from Brenda Darden Wilkerson, now President of the Anita Borg Institute, set the stage for the day and provided background on CS education in Chicago. The rest of the day was spent in parallel, interactive sessions with panels and working groups - presenting, debating, and planning K-12 CS education in Illinois.
